Hubby's New Quilt

I decided to make my hubby a new quilt. These are the 4 patch blocks I made. It was all from my stash. I have the inside and backing in my stash too. I will tie it when I get the top finished. He liked the colors. I gave him a few options and these are the ones he picked. Now I just have to get the blocks put together into a top and then tie and bind it. Hopefully I can get it done soon.

Long Lost Cross Stitch

This is a cross stitch that was started by a group I belonged to many years ago.
We would pick a design we wanted and section it off so there was 1 section for each member of the group. Then you would give it to the first person to work on it. I made a chart so we knew who was to work on each stitchery each month. You had 1 month to get your section finished. We met each month to exchange the stitchery to the next person to work on it. You would work on your own last. Well I started my part and somewhere along the line it got put away. I found it when I was looking for something else and decided with the challenge I am in I would try to finish stitching it. It is on an even weave not aida cloth. My part was the bottom and right side below the wall hanging. I did get the chair and the dog done before I put it away.

Finished Sweater Pillow

This is my finished Sweater pillow. I got the project from http://kimsbigquiltingadventure.blogspot.com/
and I love the idea. It was very inexpensive to do and very beautiful when it was finished.

This is the flower I decided to use on my sweater pillow. It is a pin from http://mousechirpy-polkadotpineapple.blogspot.com/ It is a tutorial on the right side of her blog.
It was very easy to make.

Jan. 28 2009 Snow Storm

This is my hubby using the snow blower this afternoon after the snow stopped. They say we had about 14 inches. I think a little more than that.

This is a old hand cultavator in my north flower bed. You can only see a little bit of the handles sticking out of the snow.

These are our vans in the driveway covered with snow. The snow around them had been cleared 2 times when I took this picture.

Spring any body. I have had more than my fill of winter so far and we have at least 2 more months yet to come.

Winter weather

It is a beautiful morning in Northeast Ohio. If you like winter and snow. We got 8 inches over night and more still coming down. We could get over 12 inches all total. Or more the way it is coming down. It should end some time later today.

I am more than ready for Spring.

Sweater Pillow

This is a beautiful sweater pillow design I got from Kim at http://kimsbigquiltingadventure.blogspot.com/

I still need to find a decoration for on the one side. She has the directions on her blog. It was not a hard project once you have the sweater.

Apple Box

This is a different apple design that I finished this afternoon. I got the box at the local craft store and the topper makes it look so much nicer. It may also be donated to the church baazar. This is the frontal view.

This is a top view of the apple box.

Apple Basket Topper

This is an apple basket topper I just finished this morning. I think it dresses up a very inexpensive basket. I just glued it to the top. I have found some very nice ideas for apple things, so I decided to make a few. I may donate it to the church for their baazar in November.

This is a more frontal view.

Zippered bags

I made these zippered bags for a group of ladies in a Birthday Club I am in. I belong to an ornament exchange group and in that group I am incharge of the Birthday Club. We each send the Birthday person a small gift on their Birthday. There are 8 of us this year so I made 7 bags. They do not take long and are great in your purse. I am sure they will like them. I used up some of my pre-quilted fabric I had on hand.

Tea time

This a little stitching I am going to trim to an oval , glue to the top of a wooden box and trim with lace. It is a gift for a friend who does not have a computer so she should not see this.

I finally decided on borders

These are the 2 BOM's I had to put borders on. I finally made up my mind what I wanted to do.

The Snowman from Ellie's BOM has wider borders than she put on hers but I like the look of them.

The one from Gail Pan needed red borders and I had to find the red I wanted to use. I finally did find it.

Stitching weekend

I am spending most of this weekend stitching or getting things ready to stitch. I have many birthdays coming in the next 3 months so I have decided to make as many of the gifts as I can. I can not show most of them because the people they are for check out my blog. I will post them after they are given to the birthday person.

It is a sunny but cold day today, but not near as cold as it has been here in northeastern Ohio. I know it is only the end of January but I am so looking forward to Spring. We have had a rough winter so far.

Great Grandchild Gifts

We found out we are going to be Great Grandparents in July. These are the things I have made for the baby when it is born. I worked on them before I started blogging.

BOM Storage and New Floss Storage

The boxes in the back of this picture are for my BOM fabrics and blocks. The one in the front is all my floss. They are all on cards I cut and added the color number to. I have had most of this floss for many years. I found this was the easiest way for me to be able to find my floss when I needed it. I have them in numerical order in color groups. If I do not have numbers for a project I can just look in the color and pick one.

This is a closer view of my floss box. As I said in an earlier post it is a 9x13 cake carrier. My daughter suggested it to me after she did it for her floss.

Found Some Fabric

I went shopping yesterday and found some storage boxes to keep my BOM's in so that I do not mix up my background fabrics. I also got a box my daughter suggested for storing all my floss in. It worked out great. I also found a small light to use as a light for a light box. I was happy with my shopping. I will try to post pictures later.

New Tote Is Finished

This is the pattern I made for my sewing tote. I took the idea for some of the designs from a old piece of fabric I had. I adjusted it to fit my needs.

This is after I had stitched the whole design. It is laying on my sewing machine table on top of the tote fabric.

This is after I had sewed the block on to my tote fabric and was trying to find the buttons I wanted to add to it.

This is the finished tote hanging in my dining room.

This is a close up of the buttons and beads I added to it before I sewed the tote.

New Tote

I have been working on a new tote bag for myself. I finished the stitching and have it attatched to the bag fabric. I have to get a few things to finish decorating it at the store tomorrow. I will post it as soon as I get it finished. I think it is working out well so far.

Desk with Bottles

This is an arangement of bottles and things on my desk cupboard.

Clock and Bottles

This is a clock my son made me. He even left room in the bottom for a few of my smaller bottles

Slate Painting

I painted this piece of slate for my sister-in-law. I used the Donna Dewberry method of painting. I sealed it with many coats of clear spray.

Wall Art

I did this piece of fabric art for my bathroom a couple of years ago. It needed something on the narrow wall so I did this fabric, lace and button piece and framed it. It is not behind glass. It is in the colors of my bathroom border.

Willowberry Designs Block 1

I finished my first block in the BOM from Willowberry Designs. I used a different grass color because I did not have the one she called for but I like the way it turned out. I think I am going to wait to pick out fabric till I see all the blocks. Then I can take them with me to decide what I want.

Cold day

It has been a very cold day here. It was -1 degree F. this morning. I was not going to go anywhere in the cold so I decided to clean up part of my extra room.

I did do some stitching and started drawing a design I want to use if it works out. I have ask my daughters advise and she has helped me fine tune it. I may post it tomorrow.

We are expecting another record cold night tonight. But maybe by next Wed. it might be near 30 degrees F.

I am sure looking forward to spring this year.

Another shelf with bottles

This is a shelf in my living room with a few more of my green bottles on it. Hanging from it is a hanging my daughter made me several years ago. I love the verse on it.

This verse makes me cry every time I read it. It is so touching.

Gail Pan BOM #1

I finish the stitching on the first block of Gail Pan's BOM. I did not have any red fabric to use for sashing around the block but I wanted to get the stitching finished before I start my next BOM.

Missing Wall Hanging

I found this wall hanging I did of our church in 1983. I was cleaning my sewing room today and as I was going through some boxes that I did not know what was in them I found this. I was very surprised because I had not seen it in a long time. I made it for an auction our couples group was having and my husband bought it back when the bid was way to low. It hung in our living room for a long time and then got put away.

Ellie's Calendar BOM

Today I did my Calendar block from Ellie's BOM. It went very quickly.

I am still trying to figure out what fabric I want to use with this BOM. I am leaning toward the dark green but maybe not this piece of fabric.

Bright spot in my home

This is one bright spot in my home. My daughter gave me some African Violets some time back and they have been doing great. This one is in full bloom today.

More Snow

We are getting more snow today and our temps are going to drop to single digits tonight. The rest of the week is going to be fridgid. I am planning to stay home as much as possible. I really dislike winter. It seems like it has been a long winter so far because it started in early Nov. Usually Nov. and Dec. are not too bad but this year has been awful so far. I am hoping for an early spring.

Give away

I found this giveaway last night and you only have one more day to sign up. Thought you might be interested. http://justanotherhangup.blogspot.com/

Needle Case

This is the start of a needle case I made today. The stitching went well, but making the case gave me a couple of problems. I did figure them out and this is how it came out. I think it came out okay. I needed a place to put my stitching needles so I knew where they were when I was ready to stitch.

Bird Bath

I made this bird bath for a friend after she saw mine. It is made of clay flower pots and a clay saucer. They were sealed and base coated with a cream color. I then used the Donna Dewberry method of painting and did the ferns and flowers. Then it was sealed several more times. She loved it and I am sure the birds did too.

Crocheted Green Afghan

I crocheted this afghan a few years ago. It is worked around the post of the row before and makes it double thick. It is a very warm afghan.

Weekend Snow

This is the weekend snow we got. This picture was taken about half way through the storm. We got about 9 inches in all and a dusting this morning. I am going to go out now and clean off one of the vans so I can get out tomorrow. I will post more soon.

Some bags I have made

Ornaments I have made for my exchanges

These are just a few of the different ornaments I have made for the upcoming exchanges.

Cupid Ornament

This is my cupid ornament for a monthly ornament exchange I belong to. It is for Feb. We have a Christmas ornament exchange and a theme ornament exchange every month. They have to be handmade by you. I have gotten some very beautiful ornaments so far. Now that I am stitching I have one more option of how to make my ornaments.
