More Stitching

I have been working on this stitchery. I think it will go on a tote bag soon. It is cloudy today so my picture is not as good as usual. But I am happy with the stitchery.

More Snow

No pictures today. I will not bore you with more snow pictures. It was not snowing this morning but started again about 3:30 P.M. and the radar shows that it is not going to stop soon. There is some snow in the forecast till Thursday. I sure wish Mother Nature would send spring our way.

My hip is a lot better and I have been knitting and doing some stitching. I will show you as soon as I get it finished.

Everyone have a good week.

Sit Down Time

I have had some sit down time the last few days because of a pinched nerve in my hip. These are the things I did while sitting on the heating pad. I was playing with a few crochet motifs I got out of a library book. I made the one on the left into an ornament for my monthly swap.

This was an easy stitchery I had traced last week. I am not sure what I will use it for yet but I am sure I will find a use for it.

And lastly 2 knitted ski caps. I had the tan one started before the sit down time, so I finished it and did the brown one. It is a very simple K2, P2 pattern.

I am feeling better tonight but it is still a little tender if I move wrong. I am sure it will be fine soon.

Finished Quilt and Fabric

This is a very simple quilt/comforter that a friend ask me to make. I did the tying the way she wanted it done. I would have used more ties. It has flannel inside so it should wash up okay the way it is. She is going to use it as a raffle item for their senior's group.

Here are the few things I bought over the weekend in Amish Country. Just a little fabric, 4 zippers and some lace. I was being good. I usually do not buy fabric without a project in mind and this fabric covers at least 2 projects.

Overnight in Amish Country

We left home about noon on Friday for Amish Country here in Ohio. I had never seen snow on corn shocks sitting in the field before but it was interesting to see. As you know if you have followed my blog our area has had more than it's share of snow this winter. This is about an hour south of us. It is just north of Mt. Hope. We were on our way to Ashery's bulk food store. Click on the pictures for a closer view.

This picture was taken just coming into Berlin. It is just showing the snow and hilly country side.

This is Sat. morning in Walnut Creek. We had breakfast at the Der Dutchman and then I took this picture from the back parking lot. Great food and that is where we had supper on Fri. night too.

This is the Courthouse in Millersburg. I have always loved the look of this building. Most of my pictures were taken from inside the van. It was a sunny weekend and even if it was cold it was a nice trip. I will show what little I bought in the fabric store later.

Sunshine and a Finish

The sun just came out but it is still COLD.

This is a knit scarf I just finished and will put in my gift box. It will be nice at Christmas or on other occasions to have things in the gift box.

Here It Comes Again

Here comes the snow again. We are to get up to 5 inches or more with this storm. I am really fed up with this white stuff. It does not even look pretty anymore. I want my spring flowers and warmer weather. It was 2 degrees F. here this morning. My heating bill will be out of sight this month.

Finished Stitching

I finished stitching this piece today. I have had the design for a long time and do not remember where I found it. Now I just need to figure out how I want to use it. It is about 6 or 7 inches square. Any ideas blogging friends?

2 Finishes

This is a simple knitted scarf I started awhile back and then put it aside. I got it out yesterday and finished the last few inches and the fringe. It is a very soft yarn and will make a gift for someone someday. It was a keep the hands busy project.

I saw this pattern on Dawn's blog done with a smaller thread. I loved the pattern so I ask her where she got it and she said it was from a book called
Beyond the Square Crochet Motifs by Edie Eckman.
I got it from my local library and had to try it with yarn to see how it worked up. The flower is crocheted so it stands up from the block. It is hard to see in this picture. Go to Dawn's blog to see her picture of it. The little pillow is 6" but the finished size is 7 ". I just love the way it came out and can see it made with more rounds to make it a larger pillow with the flower in the center. It was an easy project. I just made a regular granny square for the back with the same number of rows and stitches.

Cold Frosty Foggy Morning

This is not a lace curtain, it is the frost on the windows on my closed in porch. The screen is on the outside and the storm window is on the inside. I thought the designs the frost made was just beautiful. You can click on the picture for a better view.

In this picture you can see the screen better. I love the things nature designs.

This is not a blurry picture but a foggy view from my front window. Hubby said it was worse just at dawn.

Heavy Snow Again

We had a heavy snow starting yesterday about 3 P.M. This is a covered bench by my porch door at 7 A.M. this morning. Probably a foot of snow on it.

Hubby went out to use the snow blower to clean the sidewalk and driveway. The snow is up to the top edge of the snow blower. His is one you have to push through the snow. It fits on our closed in porch so he has it when he needs it.

He is starting to look like a snowman. He will not wear a hat.

You can see the plume of snow that he is sending away from the vans. It is also windy.

Look at the way the snow is hanging off the top of our van. The wind was from the north.

Request For A Simple Bow

I was ask by Jane how I make my bows lay so nice without being twisted. She saw the bow on my package ornament in my last post. So here goes nothing. I am going to try to explain how I do it with these pictures.

Hold the ribbon with the shortest end tail to your right with your thumb and index finger. The ribbon is laying in the palm of my hand.

Fold the ribbon back to the right, under the tail end.

Bring the longer tail up behind the loop which is being held with your thumb and index finger of your right hand.

Now bring it over to the front. Keeping the ribbon as flat as you can.

Now tuck it through the space where your index finger is holding the ribbon loop. Slide out your index finger and grab the loop flat and pull it through.

Adjust the size of the loops. To tighten the bow pull the front side of the right hand loop. This will make the bow lie flat. You can keep adjusting the loops till you get them the size you want them.

Now trim the tails the length you want them and you have a simple bow.

I hope this is of some help to you. It will take some practice but you can do it. Just keep the ribbon flat when you are working with it.

New Ornament

One of the next swaps I have in my monthly ornament swap group is a present or gift theme. This is what I came up with today. What do you think of my idea? I added the ribbon and bow after I stitched it.

Goodyear Blimp--AFinish--Terry's Last Quilt

Saturday on our way to our son's we say the Goodyear blimp at a distance. I took these pictures from a moving van so they are not real good. The road was I-76 going east. I had trouble because about the time I saw it there were trees that kept coming into the view. I have seen it before but not for a long time. I hope you enjoy these pictures. Click on the picture for a larger view.

This is a large coaster or pad for a friends birthday. She is a tea drinker, so I made it large enough for a saucer and cup. She does not have a computer so I can post it now. I love the design from Cheryl.

If you want to see Terry's last quilt top go here to her blog. It is very pretty.
