This is what I played with today. More Mug Rugs but a little larger than most are made. I wanted the print fabric to be large enough to show a nice bit of it. It was given to me in a bag of odds and ends. I really love it and it is perfect for me. I picked the colors in the fabric to make the pieced part of it. I used my new walking foot to quilt it. I even used a seperate binding and mitered the cornors and hand stitched the binding on the back. I use a hint that I learned on another blog of using the hair clips to hold the binding in place. They worked great. If anyone knows whose idea it was to use the hair clips I would love to give them credit.
Your Mug Rugs are so cute! I saw that hint somewhere, but now I can't remember either. I've never tried the hair clips before, but it looks easier then pinning all the way around.
ReplyDeleteYour mug rugs look great! I love those colors! :0)
ReplyDeleteLovely Tudy! I too use the hair clips for binding, although they sell them in the quilt shops now - at a MUCH higher price, lol!
ReplyDeleteI had not heard the hair clips tip before. That is a great idea. I love mug rugs, I like that you are making them big.
ReplyDeleteYour mug rugs are nice. Good job on your ornaments. They don't look like it was your first time to make I-cords.
ReplyDeleteReally cute mug rugs!!
ReplyDeleteCute mug rugs! I never pin or use hair clips when I tack down the binding. I just fold it over as I go along.
