This and That

This is my new brace as of this morning. The MRI showed a crack in my knee cap, a torn cartilage in the back of my knee and a tear in my meniscus. I start therapy on Tues. and will go back to the doctor in a month to see how things are going. He thinks the crack should heal itself but he is not sure if I will need surgery for the torn cartilage and meniscus then or not. I also have a lot of arthritus in my knee.

Front view of brace. If anyone has an idea of how to keep it from sliding down my leg when I walk please let me know.
My Crocus the other day.

  1. Oh no!!! That doesn't sound good, Tudy. I hope that you won't need surgery, but I think it sounds like a long road to recovery.

  5. Oh, my.....it does sound like you have a long road ahead of you, but let's hope things heal more quickly than that. Hopefully, someone here can give you a tip about how to keep the brace from sliding. If not, I'm pretty sure most physical therapists would have an idea about that, so maybe you can ask when you begin PT.

  6. OUCH! When you do it, you do it good. Sheesh. Praying you won't need surgery! I have no clue how you'd keep that thing from sliding...

  7. Tudy, my husband wore that brace on both of his legs at one point or another. In fact, he wore it on both legs at the same time for a while. He said there is really nothing you can do about that sliding, though he did have better luck wearing it under his pants. But to do that you need a sleeve to wear on your leg under the brace. It is a loose stretchy thing he got from the doc or PT. He said that when you wear it over your pants, the movement of walking or sitting and bending moves your pant leg up and down and therefore moves your brace. I don't know if that will help, but thought I'd pass it on. Good luck to you!

  8. I'm sorry, I was hoping it was just a sprain or something. We'll hope therapy will be all that you need...

No ideas about the slipping up and down. I hope you don't hurt too much.

  10. I bet you are glad you like all kinds of sit down crafts to keep you busy. When I am hurting if I am busy it keeps my mind off it. If you are on pain killers who knows what you will create, if you can do it on pain killers.
Will pray for a fast recovery and hopefully no surgery.

  11. Dear Tudy...are you sure you can walk??? It sounds all too sore to be thinking about walking about?? Please take it easy and try to let it heal..I know that sounds easier said than done, but we surely don't want an operation after a month of having that thing strapped to your leg. Think of all the hand sewing you can do.
    Hugs Gloria

  13. Maybe you could use duct tape!!! ;o) Just trying to make you smile. Melissa's idea from her husband sounds good, but wouldn't you have to have really baggy pants to wear that under them? You could sit around in your undies all day! Take care friend....
