Crochet Lesson

I went to Terry's today for Emily's birthday and I gave Terry a crochet lesson.  She learned the basics many years ago.  She did very well for her first project in many years.

This is the finished hexie block.

April House BOM are finished finally.  I seem to put it off to the last minute.  Maybe because they try my patience.  I do love them when they are finished.  I am learning a lot about cutting and sewing accurately.  Only 2 more months to go and then I have to decide how I want to put them all together.

My Lap Throw

Her it is, my lap throw from the African Flower Hexie block. I really enjoyed doing it and I love the way it came out.  It is Red Heart Super Saver and is very warm.  I used a J hook on this project. It is not my normal color choice but I love it.

Flowers and Afghan

This is the first old fashion Iris to bloom this spring.

This is a Forget-Me-Knot that my cousin gave me.  Her's goes crazy and mine never seems to get any bigger.  It has crinkly leaves unlike my blue and white Forget-Me-Knots that really do spread like crazy for anyone.

Here some more red Tulips I just saw blooming.

I have started putting my African Flower Hexagons together.  I hope to have them all together today and then I can start crocheting the edges.

I am having a time with this new Blogger but I will learn it sometime and then it will be easier.

This is what I did to a plain purse I loved. I have added other things at different times to the front of this purse.  I got tired of what I had glued on before so I pealed it off and added the doily and hexagon flower and I sewed a button in the center.  I love it.  The purse is a funny fabric that let me peal the other things off.  A fabric purse would not allow that to be done.

This week

This is all I got done this week with the itchy hives.  All I wanted to do is sit and crochet.  I have 20 blocks finished.  Only 30 more to go for my lap throw.

I hate this new blogger.  Is there any way I can go back to the old one?  Help please.  I am not good with changes and right now is not a good time for it either.

Finish These and Flowers

I had started these sachets awhile back and got them finished off yesterday. They will be for the church bazaar in Nov. I did not add any aromas to them so whoever buys them can add what they want.

My Chives are almost ready to bloom. I guess I should cut some of them and use them. But I never have because I love the flowers.

This is a large bunch of my Forget-Me-Knots. They really spread this year.

Our flowering tree out front is full of blossoms and is so pretty but the tree that usually blooms like crazy by our home has none. I think they got bit by the heavy frost we have had in the last few weeks. I have never seen it not bloom.

I saw that I have a couple more Tulips that the critters did not dig up and eat.

We have a lot of Lily of the Valley around our home because my hubby decided to plant them everywhere. They grew at the neighbors and they needed thinned so he spread them around. Now he is going to have to start removing them around here because they have spread like crazy. A good job for him.

African Flower Hexie

I pulled this pattern from the web awhile back and then I saw http://cubbyhousecrafts.blogspot.com/ post it on her blog so I had to try it. It is from http://heidibearscreative.blogspot.com.au/ blog. I really like the way it looks. I also love these colors together even if they are not my normal color choices. I used a J hook and it came out about 6 inches.

I am trying to get over a case of hives that we have no idea what brought them on. I am on meds and they are helping just a little bit. I just started them yesterday. Hope they leave soon so I can get more things done.

What's Growing

These are growing by my porch. I do not remember what they are but they spread and will live near a Black Walnut tree. Black Walnut trees will kill a lot of plants near them with a toxin they put out through their roots.

Our Lilac is getting ready to bloom but I had to have hubby hold the branch down because they are on the very tip top of the bush.

This is a picture of the buds on one of my clematis.

This is the other Clematis in bud.

These are the first buds on my Red Peony.

Playing with Yarn Again

I was looking for something to do with more of my leftover yarn and I saw this idea. I did not use their pattern because it was too complicated for me. I think it will be a nice gift with some goodies inside. I used double sticky tape to hold the center of the lid in place. It is a pint canning jar.

New Project

Terry sent me a blog with a hexie table mat in it. I looked for a free pattern and this is what I found. It works up fairly quickly and is about 5 inches with the yarn and hook I used.

This is what I made with it. I think it makes a nice little table mat. I plan to use it as a birthday gift for a friend.

Playing with Yarn

I was playing with a new pattern I found and this is how it turned out. I used up some more of my leftover yarn. It was not super hard and I think it came out okay. I would not want to make many of these.

Visiting Critters and April Birthday Gifts

This squirrel was trying to get a drink out of a frozen birdbath. He did manage to chip through enough to get some water.

Later it was visited by these critters.

This is the journal cover I did for Emily for her birthday.

Here is Terri with the tote I made her and filled with crafting goodies.

We did Easter and April Birthdays together. It is sometimes hard to get together with all of us so we try to combine occasions. A great day was had by all of us.

Granny Square Lap Throw

I just finished my purple granny square lap throw. It is a Christmas gift for my friend and hair dresser. Her favorite color is purple. I am very happy with the way it came out. I have no more plans to crochet for awhile. I think that is all I have done since late January. But I have a lot of gifts put away. Not sure what I will start next.

Whats Blooming and Sunrise Yesterday

Here is what is in bloom here right now. My flower beds need a lot of cleaning and weeding so ignore the dead stuff and weeds please.

There are white and blue Forget-Me-Knots in this picture.

Sunrise yesterday morning.
