Sunrise and Proud Hubby

This is the sunrise this morning.  Mine is not as nice as Terry's.

Hubby races these remote control cars on Sundays.  He has done this for over 22 years.  This is the first year for him to do well in this class.  He came in 5th in the A-main race.

Thread Catchers and Larger One

I made the square thread catcher found here.  They are great for sitting next to where you sew or stitch to catch your thread ends. The small ones started with a 6 inch square.  They measure 1 1/2" tall and 3" square at the base.  I used a 12 1/2" square for the larger one and it measures 2 1/4" tall and 7" square base.  I think the larger one would be great on a dresser or counter to hold about anything.  They each took me less than an hour to make.

Sorry for the miss connection for the blog where I found the pattern.  Scroll down the page and you will find it.  Click older posts.

Clouds, Kids and Basket

These clouds were on the way to our sons on Sat.  I love the way clouds look.

Terry's kids have grown up way to fast.  This is Emily and Brian going to school.  She is a freshman and he is a junior.  Where did the little kids go?

I finished my larger fabric basket.  I love the colors in this one.  They are so easy to make.

Kittens, Hummingbird Moth and Sewing

The neighborhood kittens were using the birdbath to get a drink this morning.  The black one climbed the piece of fence and later jumped on the calico one.  I enjoy watching the goings on at the birdbath.

Here is the Hummingbird Moth eating on the Butterfly bush flower. Click to see a better picture.

This is the project I am working on now.  Still a lot to do yet.

Book, Project and Critter

This is the second book in this series and I read it in just over a day.  Very interesting.

This is the fabric I picked for my next project.  What do you think?  Do they look good together?

Neighborhood kitten getting a drink at the birdbath watering hole.  This water serves many different critters. Sorry for the blurry picture it was taken with the sun shining on my window.

Critters and Playing with Fabric

Since I saw 2 Hummers feeding at the same time awhile back, I have seen at least 4 of them at one time out my window.  This male has posted himself on my little fence and seems to be guarding the feeder.  He will sit for a long time without flying away.  He does let the others feed sometimes. You can click the picture to see him better.

Here are just 2 of our many squirrels playing at the bottom of our big oak tree.  We also have the black ones.

I saw this pattern at Pink Penguin.  I just had to try it.  I like it but if I made anymore I would make them a little bigger.  I think it came out fine for a first try.  I have a terrible time picking out fabrics that go together.  I wish Terry lived closer so I could run next door and ask her advise.  But I do think this came out okay.

Tied Lap Comforter (Quilt)

I found this beautiful piece of fabric in my stash and decided to make a lap comforter (quilt) out of it.  Comforter because I tied it and did not quilt it.  I put flannel in the center for warmth and easy laundry.  I tied it every 6 inches.

The back is fabric I had left after making my Great Granddaughter Addison her baby quilt.

Critter and Playing With Yarn

I saw this squirrel coming down my fence with a whole ear of corn.  He must have gotten it from the neighbor across the street.

I found this Christmas stocking pattern and had to try it.  It is okay but not something I would probably make again.

I saw an ornament like this and thought it looked easy to make.  The one on the left is the pattern that was with the picture.  I made up the one on the right.  Which one do you like better?  I need to get some Christmas ribbon before I make anymore.

I think they might sell well at the church bazaar in Nov.

This and that

My all white Hibiscus is in bloom.

Another good book.  I have never read any of her books but this one was different from other Amish fiction I have read. It is the first of 3 books.  I am going to get book number 2 this week from the library.

I had 2 Humming birds feeding at the same time  yesterday.  I never get more than 1 because they chase each other away.  I was very surprised when I looked out my window.

This morning it is raining.  We need it so bad here.

This is my Magic Lily that bloomed yesterday.  Last year I had a huge bunch of them but so far this is all there is.  Maybe today's rain will bring up more.  I sure hope so.  But all my flowers have struggled this summer.

Flowers, Bird and Book

Hubby took these pictures of a few of my flowers.

I had a new visitor to my birdbath last night.  He is a Black Cap Chickadee.  He actually did take a bath.  Click to see a bigger picture.

I just finished this book and it was very good.  It is the last of a series.

First Finish For August

Here is my finished House Block Quilt from Terry's BOM.  I love it and am so glad it is all finished.

This is the label I put on the back of it.
