Four More Tea Light Holders

These 4 tea light holders were ordered by a friend.

They are so easy and quick to make.  I just love the little they add to a simple battery operated tea light.  If you need a side view look down to a earlier post.

Sore Shoulder and Playing with Crochet Thread

I am having an issue with my left shoulder.  It started bothering me back in the winter when I was doing all the carrying in of things because Hubby was on crutches.  This week it has gotten worse and is aching in the area of my shoulder blade.  It is hard to move around because of it so I have been playing with crochet thread.  This little yellow doily has another use as soon as I find what I need to make the project I want to do.  It is about 3 inches across.

This one is made from thread my Grandma gave me years ago and is about 5 1/2 inches across.  I love the colors in this thread.

This is the same pattern as the one above.  It is also a thread from my Grandma.

I Finished a Project

I finished a project I started about a month or so ago. This project started with these.  I remember my Grandma making this project in the form of a bunch of grapes and adding crocheted leaves.

When I found the pattern on line I decided I wanted to try it.  This is my version of a sunflower that my granddaughter Emily suggested I make.  It is a trivet and is very strong when sewn together on the back and toward the top between each cap.  I am very happy with the way it came out.  I want to thank Terry and Jo for collecting the caps for me.  The crocheting was very easy to follow too.

More Playing with Crochet Thread

I decided to try to make a taller candle cover.  I had this flower pot shaped votive holder and just started crocheting.  This morning I brushed it with liquid spray starch to give it just enough body to stand up on the glass.  I am very happy with what I came up with.  What do you think?

Playing with Yellow Thread

I found my yellow #10 crochet cotton and am playing with some patterns.  First is the tea candle holder for the one in a metal holder.  Then I did a jar cover doily.  I like the way they both came out.

I am not sure what I will do with this jar or what I might put in it.  But I think it is cute. It will make a nice gift at sometime.

Playing with a Project

I saw this project on a blog this morning and just had to try it.  It is for the tea candle in a metal holder.  I had the battery operated tea candle so I skipped row 5 and it worked out fine.  You can find it here.  If you posted this on your blog today let me know and I will give you credit for finding it.

Overnight in Amish Country

We spent Friday night in Amish country with our couples church group.  We stayed at the Inn of Walnut Creek.  These pictures are of the weekend.  No fabric shopping this trip.  These are Genny hens at Yoder's Bargin Barn.

It started snowing just after noon and this is in Berlin Ohio.

Hubby in the gazebo beside the parking lot.

Covered bridge on the road going south of the Inn.

This is the private roundhouse south of Sugar Creek.  There are steam engines behind each of these windows.

Train cars sitting on the turn table that will turn to send them into different doors of the round house.

This is the front of the roundhouse.  If you are interested in more pictures you can go here.

There were several young horses in this field near the road.  They were so beautiful.

The sky was so pretty I had to take a picture.

It was a great Friday and Saturday.  We got home around 3 and about 2 hours later the snow fell really hard again.  We also did a little thrift shop shopping on the way home.  We also visited a antique shop in Walnut Creek. And Ashery's near Mt. Hope.

Ornaments

I just finished 25 Christmas ornaments but I can't show them till Christmas.  I give them with a gift bag full of friendship bread and a hand made card.

I did something today that I have never done before.  I broke the eye out of a hand sewing needle.  I was in a tight spot and must have pulled to hard.  And it was my favorite needle.

Sorry not picture now.

Happy Valentine's Day

Wishing you all a very Happy Valentine's Day.

Found a Home and Afghan

I found a home for the table topper Terry gave me in a Face Book PIF.  I put it on my plant stand in the dining room.  It sure brightens up the room.  I love it.

I finished my afghan.  This one is for me.  I used the same colors in it that Terry bought for the afghan I crocheted for her. Except the speckled one.  I am very happy with the way it came out and it sure is warm.

This is a closer view of the pattern.

PIF and FOOD

This is the PIF gift I got from Terry from a FaceBook PIF.  A great piece of fabric was the wrapping and a beautiful bright table topper was the gift.  She also brought me the cute frosted glass mushroom with a battery operated tea light that goes under it.  She made it from 2 glass items that she frosted herself. I can't wait till it is dark enough to see it with the light on under it.

For lunch we made a Cheeseburger Crescent Casserole.
It is:
1 pound of ground beef browned and drained
1/2 C. ketchup
1/4 C. dill relish
1 1/2 C. shredded American cheese ( save 1/2 C. for on top)
1 can (8oz.) Pillsbury refrigerated crescent dinner rolls

Heat oven to 375 degrees.  In skillet you did the hamburger in put it back in and add ketchup, relish an 1 C. of the cheese.  Heat till hot.  Pour into a 9 or 10 inch glass pie plate.

Separate dough into 8 triangles and roll up 1 inch on the short side of each triangle.  Place on top of mixture with the points to the center of the pie.  Make sure they do not over lap each other.  Sprinkle remaining cheese on top.  Bake for 15 to 20 min. or until the cheese on top melts.

I would omit the relish if I made it again but it was very good.

We also had a crock pot of baked beans.  They to were very good.

More Scarves

I have been busy crocheting scarves if you have not noticed.  I am trying to use up some of my yarn stash.  This white one is 2 strands of soft baby yarn and makes a nice heavy scarf.

This green scarf is regular yarn and was made with all I had of that color.  I decided to add a button so it can be secured at the neck.  It can be buttoned anywhere along the side of the scarf. I really like this one because it would lay under a coat very well.

That is 3 more partial skeins of yarn gone.

I have also been doing some cupboard cleaning.  The bathroom has been cleaned out of stuff we do not use anymore.  I feel so good when they are clean.

More Crocheting

I used up some of my leftover baby yarn today.  I used one skein of white yarn and one of variegated yarn together to make this child's hat and scarf and then used 2 strands of white for the border.  I used a J hook.  I think it came out nice and soft.  More yarn out of my yarn box. And another project finished.

Winter and Scarves

We had snow all day yesterday and it is starting again.  Here are 2 pictures out my side window. I am ready for warmer weather.

I started this scarf right after Christmas to use up some yarn but it will make a great gift.  It is a shell design. I finished it yesterday afternoon.

This scarf I started last night and finished this morning.  It is a wave design and so simple.  It is the same basic pattern as Emily's afghan I gave her for Christmas.  I finished up the whole skein of purple yarn with these 2 scarves.  It was Red Heart Super Saver.  Very nice to work with.  I am trying to use things I have on hand to work with.  This one is a Christmas gift.

Supper, Finish and Sew Along

For supper the other night my hubby did a crock pot stew.  It was very good and I did not have to cook.

Here is the last set I finished of a double thick pot holder, dish cloth and 2 coasters.  It is a faded denim color.

Here is the first row of the sew along quilt that Terry is leading.  It is a very simple pattern to make.
