Green Peppers

We were given green peppers from several people but at least 1/2 came from our son and daughter-in-law.  Thanks Eric and Terri.  We chopped them all today and bagged them by the 1/4 C. in the fold over sandwich bags and then put them in a large zip bag.  We got 30 small bags so we can take out 1 or 2 and they will not be frozen together in a large lump.  I think this will work well for us.  I do this with chicken breasts too so we can take out just what we need at a time.

Christmas Wall Hanging

Sorry for a second post today but I finished this Christmas Wall Hanging I had stitched a long time ago.

A Finish

This is a project I have been trying to get finished for a long time but it just seemed to get pushed aside.  It is a cover on a 3 ring notebook/binder.  It came out pretty good.  I have had the stitching done forever but had not decided what to do with it till lately. I found the cat fabric at a yard sale and it worked great with this stitching.  It is a purple print on the back and inside flaps.

Fall Sky and Mum

Today is cold and was rainy to start with since this morning we have had a few snow flakes and sleet.  You know I love sky pictures so here are a few and a little of the color on our trees.

Some of the prettier trees.

These are the clouds that gave us the heavy sleet for about 5 minutes.

This is a Mum my brother-in-law and sister-in-law gave us when they were here a few weeks ago.  It was only in full bud when they gave it to us.  Now it is coming into full bloom.  We brought it into the porch tonight because we are expecting a FREEZE tonight.  I am not ready for this cold weather.

I Killed Herman

First of all Herman is my sourdough starter for my Christmas breads, not a person.  I baked 5 batches of bread this morning and finished off the starter so Herman is no longer here till next Sept. when I will start all over again.  I have baked a total of 17 batches.  Some in small loaves and some in regular sized loaves as you can see in the picture.  I bake it every 10 days and start on Labor Day.  I still have to wrap today's baking and get it in the freezer but then I will have all my Christmas gift breads ready.  Today I made orange, banana and zucchini breads.

The house smells great too.

Trip to Amish Country

Yesterday we went to spend the day with Hubby's brother and sister-in-law who were spending a few days down there.  On the way down to meet them it got pretty foggy.

This was our first stop. The truck patch.  They have fresh baked goods and vegetables and fruit.  They also have lots of animals you can pet.

They also have wagon rides to the pumpkin patch and buggy rides.

Here is a very large work horse.  This is hubby standing by him.

Lots of Pygmy goats.  These look like Terry's neighbors goats.

Large bull.

One day old baby Pygmy goat.

Large long horn steer.

Two day old baby pygmy goat having his breakfast.

Can you see the goat on the roof?  They have a ramp they can climb from the pasture to the roof.  You can feed them by way of a bucket on a rope that goes to the roof.

Next stop was Ashery's bulk food.  I always come out of there with lots of good things.

We then went to Kidron to Lehman's hardware.  They have anything you could ever want and then some.  Lots of non-electric items for the Amish.  From there we went to Walnut Creek for a late lunch at Der Dutchmen.  Great food.  This picture is the view off the parking lot to the north.

Then we just drove for over 2 1/2 hours on back roads enjoying the views.  It was a good day but very long for me.

A Little Of This and That

Here are some sunrise pictures from the other day.

These beautiful rust colored oak leaves are just outside my back door.  They usually just dry up and fall off.

This is a kit I bought a long time ago and we found it when Terry and Emily helped me clean and get rid of stuff.  It had a few really tricky parts to it but I love the finished product.

This is it.  A Halloween witch.

My yellow Mums are in full bloom.

My white Clematis has decided to bloom now too.  What is up with these spring flowers blooming in the fall?
