Christmas Projects

Here are the pictures of the projects I could not show before Christmas.

Now I can start thinking about Birthdays which start on Feb.  I have 10 just in Feb., March and April.  Lots to think about.

Last Blocks, Snow lady and Peanut Brittle

Here are the last of the 9-patch blocks for my quilt.  Tomorrow I will be at Terry's to lay it out the way I want the blocks to go together.  I do not have room here at home to do that.

A 2nd sock snow person but this is my Snowlady.  I crocheted the hat and scarf without a pattern.  I love the aqua color I used. It is bright and cheery.

Hubby helped me get our annual peanut brittle made just now and it sure smells good in here.  It has to cool before it can be broken up into pieces.

More Blocks and A Gift

Here are the next 7 blocks for my Charming Star Quilt.  Only 6 more to go.

Hubby went out to the Ohio Warehouse open house near us on Fri. and came home with this for me. He got it for just a few dollars.  It is a beautiful picture but the best part is the candles in the windows light up and flicker.

This is with the lights on.  Sorry it is blurry but it was very hard to get a good picture.  I just love it.  I will hang it after Christmas.

Charming Star Quilt

I have the first 11 nine-patch blocks done for my Charming Star Quilt along.  I only have to do 13 more and then I can lay it out.  I will have extra blocks because I figured wrong but I have a use for them already.  I laid them out on the love seat because getting them to the floor just was not going to happen today.

Snowman

I saw this and had to try my luck at making it.  I am very happy with how it came out.  It is made from a sock.  I had everything here to make it.

Doll Quilts

Here are the last 5 quilts I finished.  That brings my total to 58 since May.  I may work on more yet this year but I do have other sewing to do.

Thanksgiving Night and The Next Day

This is what came down after we got home from Terry's Thanksgiving night.  Our security light makes the pictures a funny color but the snow was really coming down.

This is the snow we got overnight.

Today we decided to get out the Christmas stuff and decorate.  This is the new wall hanging I made for above the TV.

I made this for the door way a few years ago.  It was a 7 month stitchery.  You only got 1 pattern at a time.

Our tree this year.  Hubby did most of the decorating.  I did put the crocheted/bead garland on.

Garland and handmade ornaments.

Better picture of my garland.  I did this many years ago and have used it often.  I have 5 lengths of beads that I crocheted over.

Ribbon German Folded Star.  I have made these from paper and ribbon over the years.

Star Terry made me last year.  It is made of fabric.

My Bear Nativity.  I have had this a long time.

The door hanging I made last year.  I did not realize it was the same pattern as the new wall hanging I made this year.  I remember stitching several of this same pattern but forgot I used the red one last year.

I think we are now ready for Christmas.

Wall Hanging, Ornament and Icy Windows.

I did the stitching in the center of this wall hanging a long time ago. I decided I needed one for above my TV so I started this yesterday and finished it today. Can't wait to hang it up.

I made myself a hat ornament like the one I made for Terry.

Icy outside windows on Tue. morning.  The inside window was clear.  It was really cold that morning.  I love the designs it makes.

Computer Chair

We spent 3 1/2 hours this afternoon re-covering our computer chair.  It had very little foam left in the seat.  I had the foam from an old camper mattress and a friend had given me the fabric a long time ago.  I am sure glad this job is finished.  This is the before.

This is the after. The dark line is where the fabric was folded and will work out as we use it.

Flowers and Tree Skirt

My Yellow Christmas Cactus is going crazy this year.  My white one only has a couple blooms. The yellow one is on the left and the white is on the right.

Yellow one from the other side.

My tree skirt for this year.  Last year Emily said just putting fabric around the base of my tree was not a tree skirt which all Christmas trees need.  So today I took the fabric I used last year and made it into a tree skirt with lace around the edge.

These are the squares I have to put into 9-patches for my Charming Star Quilt.  Hope to get to sew on them soon.

This and That

I saw this ornament idea and had to try it.  It is not too hard and I like the way it came out.

This is how the sky looked yesterday while the sun was shining.  A real winter sky.

This mornings sunrise.

I was ask to make 2 more bottle covers.  So here they are.

I had to try this new Apple angel cake recipe I found.  This is how it looked when it came out of the oven.

This is what it looks like when it cools.  It is just a can of apple pie filling and an Angel Food cake mix.  Stir together, it will foam up when it is all mixed together, and pour into a greases  9x13 cake pan.  Bake at 350 deg. for 20 to 25 min.  I am serving it with Cool Whip tonight at church.  I will let you know how it comes out once it is cut.
