Friday's update
Well, there's not much to tell today. John was asleep when I got to the hospital. I was standing there looking at his numbers when the nurse came in and asked if I was "the wife". I told her yes I was and started to ask her something and John opened his eyes for a minute and looked at me. So I don't know if it was my voice he was responding to or not, but I'm taking it as a good sign. He's still on the ventilator but they're going to shut it off this afternoon for a while and see how he does. If all goes well he may be off of it completely tomorrow. We just have to wait and see. I can't wait for that tube to be out of him!
