A Little of This and That

My living room without most of the furniture and a clean carpet. Hubby cleaned it yesterday for me. Look how big it looks.

Furniture back in place. It smells so nice and clean and it was nice enough to have the windows open for a change.

My magic Lillies are in bloom again. They surprise me every year because I forget they are there.

Ornaments for the Craft show in Oct.

Two more sets of hair clips and these are Christmas fabric. Also for craft show.

Thank You Gift

When I got the mail today I had a thick envelope from Canada. It was a thank you from Diane. She won my giveaway awhile back. I just love the fabric, she thought they would make good hexies, and beautiful Iris card she sent me. She said the card reminded her of my Iris this spring.

This and That

This is my Hibiscus which is dark pink in the center and light pink on the outside. I think this is the third year for it.

This is a pillow cover. It is what I decided to do with my brown Grandmother's Flower Garden. It will look better when I get a pillow in it. I am going to do a craft show in Oct. so this may be part of it.

This is a pink ribbon ornament for my monthly swap group. I think it is for Oct.

I was trying some Yo-Yo hair clips. I saw these on a blog but can't remember which one or when I saw them. Also for the craft show. I think they came out okay. I will make more when I have time.

Up date: Terry said she saw these on http/narioka.blogspot.com

Flowers Again

This is my Blue River Hibscus. It is the first of many bloom to come on it.This spring my purple Clematis bloomed and yesterday Hubby saw something purple in the Trumpet Vine. Well the Clematis had grown from behind the Trumpet Vine into it and is in bloom again. How strange.

This is a plant in bloom in my house. It was from my Mom's funeral last year. I have never seen any signs of bloom before and this one is strange to be sure.

This is the plant it is on.

Gift From A Friend

A friend of mine who lost his wife several years ago ask me today if I would like a basket of her craft things he just found while he was cleaning. Of course I said yes expecting a small basket. This is about 24"x 18". More like a small clothes basket. In it is yarn, felt, crochet thread, floss, and iron on transfers (a lot of them ). I am sure I forgot some of what is in the bottom.

This is the floss, 98 full or partial skeins. I was shocked when I sorted out the basket. Everything was just piled into it. The above picture is after it was sorted. What a gift. I will really thank him the next time I see him.

This is my second PIF to hit the mail and it arrived at Jane's yesterday. I borrowed her photo because I forgot to take one before I shipped it to her.

Pink GFG Tote

I finished my pink Grandmother's Flower Garden tote. This one I used batting in the middle to give it more body. I have no idea where I got the pink fabric but it has a watermark design if you look closely. It is also a tighter weave and a little more difficult to work with. As you can see I also added a button to the block in this tote.

A Win and Hooked on Hexies

This is my pin cushion and extra things I won from Mary at Hooked on Needles. I sure can use and love it all. Thanks Mary it was a great giveaway.

I am sure you saw the tote in the last post I did with Grandmother's Flower Garden block. Well I am hooked on doing hexies right now. It is a lot of hand sewing but I really love it. I do not know when I will stop. I just have to figure out what all I can put them on.

This is going to be a bag and I hope to get it put together soon.

I sometimes have a problem with figuring out what fabrics to put together. Hopefully I will get a better hold on this problem with doing hexies. But do not count on it.

Cool Off for the Birds and New Tote

This last week it was in the mid 90's all week and very humid. We have 3 bird baths and they were all being used daily. These birds were there at the hottest part of the day.

This is my latest tote bag. This is the first Grandmother's Flower Garden block I ever did. I think it came out okay. Terry helped me in the choice of the bag fabric. I had several choices and could not make up my mind so I ask her. I think it is a very good choice. I had to add the button just because I love buttons.

Here is a close up of the block. I decided after much trying of different thing to just hand applique it in place after I fused it down to the bag. I did not want the edges to come loose.

Playing with Grandmother's Flower Garden

I have always wanted to try a Grandmother's Flower Garden block. This morning I found a tutorial on the web, by doing a Google search for it. I saved the templet and then inlarged it in my card program. I then printed it on card stock 12 to a sheet. I then cut them out and cut squares of fabric. The next step was to baste them at the corners. Then sew them in rows and then sew the rows together. I think it came out okay but it was a lot of hand sewing. Now I need to decide what color background to use and what to make it into. Maybe a pillow cover or a tote bag. If you have any other ideas let me know.

A Little Bit of Everything

These are 2 crochet Christmas Bell ornaments I was playing around with to see which one I liked better. I think the one on the left is my choice. What do you think?

This is the card and scissors fobs I won from Karen. It came today in the mail. I love it.

This is the latest flower in bloom. I am having a small problem with beetles. It is not bad yet though.
