Outside Today

The Chickadee's were enjoying a bath.

I was sitting in my chair near the window after taking a picture of the birds in the birdbath when this Black Capped Chickadee landed on the edge of my opened window.  Sorry for it being taken through the screen but that is where he landed.

Then he went down for a drink when the other birds left.

And this is the last of the  Trumpet Vine blooms but guess what else is in bloom?  It is my spring blooming Clematis of all things.  That was a surprise to me.

New Fall Door Hanger

I have had this stitchery done for awhile now but just could not seem to get to the sewing part.  This morning I finally got it finished.  Next will be a Christmas one.  I have plenty of Christmas stitchery's already finished.  I will just have to put one together.

New/used Kitchen Faucet

Yesterday hubby got the kitchen faucet installed that our son Eric gave us when he replaced it with a different style.  Ours was leaking very badly.  It will take getting used to just how far to turn it on so I do not get a bath every time.  It hits the bottom of the sink in a different spot so it sprays up a little more than the old one.  The faucet also pulls out for a sprayer.  I think I will love it once I get use to it.  Main thing is it does not leak.

2 Small Finishes

Here are 2 wash/dish cloths I did this week. The left one is crocheted and the right one is knitted from one tip, increasing each row till you get it wide enough and then decreasing each row to come to the other corner. They will go to the bazaar in Nov.  They are done with cotton yarn.

Crocheted Set

I started this set back in Jan. when hubby was having back injections and just found it in the tote bag I used then.  It will be going to our church bazaar in Nov.  There is a double thick pot holder, a coaster done over a CD and 2 small coasters.

Visit and Cookies

Today Terry and Emily came up for a visit.  No hard work for them today, just a nice visit.  I ask Emily if she wanted to make cookies in the afternoon.  When she was little and stayed with me she and her brother would make my Grandma Wass's cutout sugar cookies.  It is the best recipe I have ever found for sugar cookies. So this is her today and some of the cookies she made.  I sent a lot of them home with her so I would not eat too many.  As you can see she loves to use all the different sprinkles I have in my cupboard.  And I have a lot of different ones.

First Christmas Baking

Today was the day to do my first baking of my Christmas Friendship breads.  I made 3 batches of small loaves and 1 batch of regular sized loaves.  These are all banana breads.  I will get them wrapped later and then in the freezer. I will probably bake 3 more times and then I will have all my Christmas breads in the freezer ready to delivery for Christmas.  I will make other flavors too.  I love doing this early so I am not rushed later.

Sewing and Kittens

This afternoon I was playing.  I made this mug mat for hubby from left over fabric from his quilt.  I was also playing with my walking foot to do the quilting on it.  It was a fun project and quick.

This morning the neighbors outside kittens were keeping cool laying on the concrete in front of our storage barn.  They sure have grown up quickly.

Never Forget

I will never forget those who lost their lives on 9-11.  Please take a moment and remember those people today.

Fair Time Again

We went to the Wayne Co. fair today and it was a beautiful day for it.  We always go on opening day, Saturday to watch the horse pull.  This is heavy with pictures and some are blurry, sorry for that but the crowd kept bumping into me as I was trying to take them.  Here goes.  It was a little foggy when we left this morning but it was so neat.

Miniature horses, mom and baby.

Black sheep.

These are Terry's neighbors goats.

Opening service was held here.

Something to make us all stop and be thankful for.

I think the John Deere corn hold board is Emily's but I could not see her name because of the board in front of it.

The horse pull at the start.  These are the light weights and the winner pulled 9000 pounds if I remember right.  They are all beautiful horses and some are worked all year hauling logs out of woods.

These are the blurry pictures.  Sorry.

This quilt is made up of very small squares about 1 or 1 1/2 inches finished.

Hubby's Quilt Top

It is now a flimsy and will be put together as a quilt next week I hope.  I am very happy with all my corners on this top and there are a lot of them.  It will be tied with a blanket in the center for warmth.  This is the same one Terry is doing but she added sashing and corner stones to hers.

This and that

Here is the layout for Hubby's quilt.  Now I just have to find time to sew it together.  This was suppose to be a sew along from Terry but I got ahead of things and so did she.  Check hers out too.  It is different than mine.  Her's is scrappy with sashing and corner stones and mine just has 35 different fabrics one in each block.

I saw on a blog what people were using large card catalog files for.  This is only a 2 drawer card cabinet I got from a friend a long time age and about 6 months ago I decided to store my threads in it.  It is not neat in this picture but it was when I started.

These are the beautiful Sept. clouds that were around today.

I love the glass mushroom Terry gave me and have decided to make some myself.  Which I have done.  Today at Goodwill I found this tiny bowl and a pretty candle holder that I think make a adorable mushroom.  The only thing is I can not fit a battery operated tea light under it like I can the bigger ones.  If you missed them check back on my older posts for them.

I have had a request for my bread starter and directions.  Here they are.  You will have to click on it to read it but that is the only way I could get it to come out right.  You can click on it and then save it to your computer to do a print out.  Hope this is of a help.  I use the small foil pans and wrap in plastic wrap and seal with clear tape and they will keep for at least 6 months or more.

Christmas Bread Starter Made

I just made the starter for my Christmas Friendship Breads.  They will all be in the freezer before Halloween.  I will be baking them every 10 days till I have enough.  It is also called Herman.  I add all kinds of things too it.  I bake them in the small foil pans and wrap them in the same pans.  It keeps it fresher that way.  Certain people like different things in it so I try to remember that and give them the 3 they like in their Christmas bag.  I also add a hand made card and ornament.  Those are finished and ready for the bags when the time comes.
