Gift Hung and Puzzles

This is the gift our daughter Terry made for us for Christmas. I posted it before but we got it hung yesterday. The space is just the right size for it. Hubby took down a plaque he had hanging there for a long time. I think it look go there and you can see it from most any place in the room.

This is the second balloon puzzle we did. The first one is the next picture down. I think we are on a puzzle kick right now. But the sewing will take over the table before long.

First balloon puzzle we did.

Misc.

This is the Christmas cactus that is in with the yellow one. I thought it had died but this was my surprise the other day. It is a salmon color. I really love it.

This is a puzzle I recieved in the 3,2,1 tote bag swap from Grace. We did it in about 2 1/2 hours. It has 500 pieces.

This is the puzzle we are doing now. It has 1000 pieces and is a lot harder. Hubby picked this out of our stash. We have not done any in a long time, but we pick them up at yard sales if we like the picture.

Close up of what it will look like when it gets finished.

Wishes and a Finish

I want to wish all my friends and followers in blogland a Merry Christmas. Have a safe and happy weekend. This is a small nativity scene I have had for many years.

This is a kerchief I made this week. I wanted something to knit and this is what I came up with. I remember wearing them when I was younger.

Gifts Given

Here is the finished project of the sneakl peak I showed you a long time ago. The girls both liked them.

Our Family Christmas 2010

On the way to our son's home we saw the Goodyear Blimp over Akron. This shot is the first one I took. Click on it to enlarge it.

This was the last shot I could get because the road turned and it was on the wrong side of the van. It was a cloudy day.
We all had a great time and I wanted to show everyone what my daughter Terry made for us for Christmas. This picture was taken on the 4th of July this year in our yard in front of the big oak tree. I love how she printed it on fabric and then made a wall hanging from it. She made her brother's family one too. We will both cherish them forever.

Part of My Days Work

This is what I can show you today. Getting ready for our family Christmas tomorrow. I sometimes wish I could use pre-made pie crust because it would be faster, but I know my family would have my head if I did. I tried it once and they were very unhappy with me. I did a pumkin pie and cooked the extra for hubby. I also did a cherry pie. I think I am done baking for awhile now.

Everyone have a safe and happy weekend.

Busy Day

I have been busy today getting these 3 little angels ready for a trip by mail. Just need to wrap them for the ride and box them up. Will try to get them in the mail tomorrow.

Also made this batch of Peanut Brittle I have orders for part of it. It needs broken into pieces and bagged yet to be delivered on Monday.

I have to take some of my breads out of the freezer for our Christmas this Sunday. We are doing it early because Terry's family will be going to her hubby's side of the family on Christmas day this year. Next year we will have Christmas Day. We alternated Thanksgiving and Christmas so that neither family has both holidays any one year. We will have Thanksgiving next year on ther weekend probably. Going to our son's on Sunday. He has a nice house and a lot more room than I do but he also lives in the lower part of the snow belt here in Ohio. I do not think we are suppose to get any snow till the first of next week that amounts to anything.

Winter Storm Warning

Here we are again under a winter storm warning. It has snowed and blown snow all day. We do not have a huge amount of snow but the winds have blown it around so sometimes you could not see across the street. More to come tonight and tomorrow by the sounds of it. It is also around 18 degrees F. This is enough already. It is not even Christmas and we have had several bad snows already in this part of the state.

I spent part of the day wrapping all my Christmas gifts. That job is now done. All I have to do is make one fruit basket and thaw out my breads and bag them up just before Christmas so Hubby can play santa and deliver the bags to friends. There are about 20 all together. That is his only job for Christmas. The rest falls on my shoulders and I have made a lot of the gifts.

Then birthdays start in Feb., March and April. Then 2 in June and I am done for the year. Got to get my thinking cap on for those pretty soon.

This and That

This was a sunrise on Wendsday this last week. Did not get it posted till now.

Snow fall on Friday morning. We got a couple of inches from it. Now it is raining and this afternoon it is suppose to turn to snow again. Crazy Ohio weather.

I saw this book that was on a blog post and thought it looked interesting. It really was a good book.

Here are 2 more Nativities I am working on. In my last post I gave Sylvia credit for the pattern. Everyone who sees it just loves it.

Terry told me how to find the person I won the Nativity pattern from. She said to do a search on my blog and it would show the post I wrote about it. I tried several searches and finally found it. It was Sylvia from Time to Stitch. I wanted to give her credit for the beautiful pattern. I have made several for gifts so far. I will post pictures later.

Up date on Daughter-in-law

Our Daughter-in-law has been transferred to Akron City for a heart cath tomorrow. Please keep her and her family in your prayers. Thank you.

Guest Blogger

I was a guest blogger on Happy Snappy this month. They had ask for pictures about light. This is the picture I sent. Terry also has one there.

Also my Daughter-in-law was taken to the ER on Sat. night for trouble breathing and chest pain. I did not get to post yesterday but did go to see her. They gave her meds and her breathing is better but she also has fluid around her lungs. She see the heart doctor today after a bunch of tests they will be running. The family could use your prayers. She was resting more comfortablely yesterday.

Nativity

I received this pattern a long time ago from Sylvia, but I do not remember her blog name and it is not on the pattern. If anyone can help me out I would love to give her credit for the beautiful design. I finished the stitching last week but just got the piece finished today. I sewed a ring on the back to hang it. I love the pattern for this time of year. I decided to do it in one color so it would go with any room color. It is a gift for a friends of ours.

Christmas Decorating Is Done

The first tree I put out is this little button tree that my daughter Terry made me many years ago. It will sit on the desk by my phone. The picture is not taken there because there was too much stuff to be able to show it off well. This post has a lot of pictures. Enjoy them.

This is my ladder shelf with Christmas things hug from the pegs.

Our tree all decorated. I will take you around it and show you some of the hand made ornaments I made and others made. I make a new one every year to give with my breads as gifts for friends and family. Click for a better view.

My three happy snowmen made of wood.

This snowman is made on a small flower pot.
Felt snowman.

This gold ball was decorated with a bit of lace, beads and ribbon.

This is another ball decorated with lace, ribbon and flowers.

This is a circle of lace with a Christmas Santa head glued on. Very easy to make.

This angel is made with Yo-Yo's. The body was stretch so the center is behind her head and the wings were gathered around the middle.

Cross stitch fabric bag are also easy ornaments.

Wooden bird houses that I bought and added the snow and the birds.

This is one of the first ornaments I ever made. It is painted on red cardboard because that is all I had at the time. It has to be over 50 years old and they are on my tree every year. I think I make nicer ones now but these will be there always.

This is one of the ornaments Hubby's grandmother sent us for our first Christmas. That was 44 years ago. We prize them since she is no longer with us.

She also crocheted this one that same year.

This is one of mine again. Velvet stocking.

This is the tree topper I made a few years ago when I could not find a country topper. She sits on my ladder the rest of the year. I am sure you have noticed the garland in some of the pictures. I also crocheted it over a gold bead garland I bought. I think I have 4 lengths of it.
Tree with the lights on. It is a slim tree since our room is not too big. This is the second year for it. Before we had a regular size tree. But it took up a lot of room.

Hope you enjoyed the tour.

This is a bead kit a friend bought and could not figure out how to make. She ask me if I could figure it out and make it for her. It is all sewn together with a needle and thread. She would like 2 more just like it. She gave me the beads for them too. It is sitting on a full 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper. I am not sure how she plans to display it but I will leave that up to her. It took the better part of 2 days to finish it. I had to get up and walk away from it at times so I did not go crazy looking at the beads and remembering which holes I had to sew through next. Click the picture to get a better look.

Now for Christmas

Hubby and I set up the nativity in the park in front of our church every year. We usually do not do it till the Friday or Sat. after Thanksgiving but this year because of the weather coming in (2 or 3 inches of heavy rain). We decided to do it the day before Thanksgiving. This has been done by us for 37 years now. It belongs to our church but where we put it up in at a Y in the main road that runs through our town, so everyone traveling south sees it. It has a light under the roof so it is visible at night too. That is when it looks best to me.

I want to wish everyone out there a Happy Thanksgiving. I am so thankful for family, friends and our troop who let us have the freedom to celebrate as we wish. Have a great and safe day.

Two More Pair of Slippers

Here are the last 2 pair of carry along slippers I have knitted. They are very comfortable.
