Just Playing With Hexies

I found the center flower the other day and decided to add the green hexies and then make a new pillow cover.  I like the way it came out and I had all the materials and pillow so no money spent on this project.  And that is a good thing.

Snow Storm

We are having heavy snow and strong winds here today. Woke up to snow sitting on the metal strips of our windows.

The snow was only on the one side of our truck and van.  Strange sight.

This is how it looked most of the morning.

From the snow on the fender of the trailer we have about 4 or 5 inches at lunch time.

This was about 1 PM.

We had about 20 minutes of bright sunshine and then this happened.

Decided this was a good day to clean the freezer out.  We could put stuff in boxes on our closed in porch and it would not thaw.  Everything is back in and sorted out so I know what I have to work with.  I do this 2 times a year.  Glad it is done for now.

Icy Windows and A New Table Topper

This is how our windows have looked for the last few days. I think the ice patterns are neat but it also makes me cold.

Here is the table topper I finished from yesterday's playing.

Here it has my favorite mushroom sitting on it.  It really does lay flat but this picture does not show it.

Playing

I was playing in my sewing room this afternoon because the sun was shinning in the windows and it was warmer in there.  These are some scraps left over from hubby's quilt.  I am going to make a candle mat out of it or a table topper.  I still need borders and need to decide on the backing.  Sorry the picture is a little blurry I guess it was from the sun shinning on it.  But with our cold temps I am leaving all the curtains open during the day.  Very cold here again today.

Another Scarf and New Winter Door Hanging

Here is a bulky scarf made from Lion Brand yarn/Homespun on size 13 needles with 16 stitches.  The yarn was given to me so I made a scarf.  I think this is the last scarf for awhile.

Here is the winter door hanging I have been working on for awhile.  It has real buttons down his belly and hanging on the thread from one hand to the other. Also a flat wooden spool with thread.  This is one of my favorites that I have made so far.

2 More Scarves

I have been making scarves for awhile now.  I got this yarn last week and I think this scarf is for me.  It worked up very fast.  Knitted on #11 needles with 20 stitches.  It took 2 balls which were on sale.

This is the very last of my purple yarn.  No more purple scarves.  It is crocheted in doubles with a single border.

Sunrise & Scarves

This mornings sunrise was so beautiful, but it means rain is on it's way.  I will take rain over snow any day.

I got a ball of yarn the other day for a scarf.  Well I did not like it the way I started it so I made 2 Chain Stitch Scarves out of it.  There was too much yardage for just one and it is thicker than the first one I did for Barb.  So I thought it would lay better with just 4 rows of chains.  That is a good deal out of one ball.

Blocks Made

I have this months blocks for the Goodnight Irene Quilt Sew-Along with Terry finished.  They are not sewn together yet but maybe tomorrow.  The idea for sewing the x blocks using the painters tape from Terry's blog is great.

Blogaversary

Today is my 5 year blogaversary.  I will have a give away surprise on Sunday.  Just leave a comment on this post.  Please do not pass this around.  I would like to have one of my regular followers to win this surprise.  I want to thank Terry for getting my blog set up for me and changing my background when ever she feels it right.  I have loved the last 5 years and hope to have many more.  Thank you all for following me.

This is the weather we have been having plus a -11F yesterday morning. It was also very windy.  And we had frozen water lines.  Hubby got them thawed out in the afternoon but it was a very cold job for him under our mobile home.  We have never had them freeze before and they were insulated very well.

Chain Stitch Scarf

Barb brought her sister over to learn to knit a lacy scarf. In the mean time she saw one ball of yarn was for a chain stitch scarf. It is made with just your fingers. It is Red Heart Boutique Sashay Sequins yarn. It took only about 15 minutes. You just make 1 long chain and tie it together or not. Then make the loops the way you want them and tie it in place or leave long so you can wrap it any way you want. I want to make me one of these soon.

Snow

It has snowed here since New Year's Eve.  This is what has piled up on the fender of our utility trailer.  About 8 inches but we had heavy winds yesterday and a lot of it has blown around.

First Finish

Here is my first finish for 2014.  I have been working on it at Hubby's doctor visits.  Trying to use up more purple yarn.  It is one row of doubles and one tow of triples and repeated till long enough.  I then made up a shell border for it.
