Two Items Finished and a Good Book

This scarf was made with a very soft yarn I won in a giveaway. It is part bamboo. I love to work with it.

This is a journal cover I made to give to the craft show I am doing this Sat., for an auction. It came out very nicely.

My daughter Terry read this book and thought it was very good. I have to agree and it also makes you think about your own life. My hubby is reading it now. I got it from our local library. I also feel it was well worth reading.

Cloudy Skies

We took a ride yesterday afternoon and these are some of the clouds we saw. We had sunshine and then a burst of rain and that went on all afternoon and into the early evening. We saw 2 different rainbows toward evening. Lots of pictures so I hope you enjoy them. Click on them to get a better view.

Ready for Halloween

We decorated for Halloween yesterday. Not a lot but enough to make it look nice. This is hanging on my front door.

This is outside my closed in porch. I hang chimes there in the summer. I made the wooden ghost years ago and used white trash bags for the bottom part that blows in the wind.

From my hook but the driveway.

These I made many years ago. I bought the pattern and hubby cut them out. Then I painted them from the pattern. I put them out every Halloween some where in my yard. This year it is in the flowerbed near my porch. Click on it to see a better view of the spider.

Medina County Foliage Tour

We took in part of the tour stops. This farm also has a saw dust business but they had a lot of old tractors and machines on display too. Old truck and large steer.

This is an old fashion wire tie hay baler. It runs off a pulley on the side of an old tractor with a very wide belt. Hubby does not know what they call it. They poked the wire through in front of the bale and it came around the back and they twisted it to secure the bale.

Old modified tractor built locally.

There was an pioneer encampment at one of our local parks and these are the pictures from there. These are spirit catchers and are very beautiful.

Lady dress for the time back then. More a town lady rather than a farmers wife.

This man was drying meat near his fire.

They had carriage rides and there were 2 different teams.

2 of the kids with the group.

Firs hanging to dry, I think.

Indian tee pee. There was an Indian sitting in front of it tell the history of the Indians in this area.

More skins laid out to dry or as they would have to sell them.

Old fashion chuck wagon. This is how they carried their food and ten set up for meals.

Fall color

Fall is coming to Northeast Ohio. Here are some of the views I saw today.

My Mums.

My Hydrangia (miss spelled) which never bloomed this year. I have no idea why but I have 2 pink and neither bloomed. I love the red color on the leaves.

Berries on a flowering tree in the front tree lawn. It is very full this year.

More color in a woods near a road we were on.

Herman

If you are interested in my recipe for Herman and the Bread just leave a comment or e-mail me. I will be glad to share. It makes a delicious bread and you can add anything to the basic bread. I would post it but the way I have to post will not allow me to copy it to here.

Herman is Dead

I killed Herman today. My Amish Friendship bread starter. I started it on Labor day and killed it off today. All my Christmas breads are in the freezer, 62 small loaves and 8 regular loaves. They are all for Christmas gifts. That is the bulk of any baking I do for Christmas. I am so glad they are baked and put away. I did 7 batches today.

Acorns and Wrist Warmers

If you follow my blog you have heard me talk of all the squirrels we have. We have gray and black. We also have several oak trees and some of you saw the big one earlier on my blog. Well I also have one that hangs over the back of our mobile home, which has a metal roof. The acorns have dropped on it for several months now. To start with the squirrels would drop the little ones but then they started dropping on their own and with the squirrels help. It sounds like a gun going off when they hit the roof. Thank heaven it is from dawn to dusk and not all night. Here are some pictures of the ground by my home where they have eaten a few. Notice how many there are in a small area. Click the picture to see it better.
Three more wrist warmers. The center one is a dark blue-green color.

Four more wrist warmers. The one on the right is really black and do I hate to work with black but it was ordered by a friend, so I made them.
