Computer Re-do

My son came over today and re-built my computer and installed Windows 7. He also changed a few other things to make it better. I now have to learn the system all over again. Right now I am going to walk away for a short while so my brain can get a short break.

I hope everyone had a great day.

Christmas Tradition

This is a tradition we have done for well over 30 years in this spot. The Nativity belonged to the churchs in our town when it started but these are new people and they belong to our church now. Hubby has been helping put it up since 1972 when it went down town by our Library. It was then moved to this location. Because it got to crowded for it to be seen well. Hubby is the one bent over. Jim and Robert have helped us for the past several years.

Hubby and Robert adjusting the straw around Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus. There is a light above Hubby's head that lights it all night long.

Finished set up of our Nativity. I do help carry some of the pieces and I take the pictures. I also advise on where things go and if it looks okay.

Invasion of the BIRDS!

Today again we are being invaded by very LARGE flocks of black colored birds. There has to be many thousands of them in a flock. This has happened off and on over the last couple of years. We were never in any flight line before that. They do a number on the vans each time they fly over. I hope they leave the area soon so we can wash the vans before it snows. Click to see a close up of the pictures.

Another Purple Tote

When I took the purple sewing tote to my Stretch class to deliver it to my friend who had ordered it from me another member ask if I had anymore of the purple fabric. I told her I did and she ask for a tote for a friend for Christmas too. She told me what writing she wanted on it and I ask about the design. She said it did not matter. I had this design already stitched for a tote someday so I used it. I think she will be delighted with it. I know I love it and I think the oval with the rick-rack looks great too. I love the rick-rack as a trim.

A close up view of the stitching. Sometimes it pays to have some stitching done ahead.

2 More Ornaments For Swaps

Here are 2 more ornaments I have finished for 2 different swaps. I love to do stitched ornaments because I can pick patterns from coloring book pages or other clipart for my designs. One swap has to do with where you live, thus the Ohio ornament.

Handmade Christmas Ornament Swap 2009

This is what I sent for the Handmade Christmas Ornament Swap 2009 that Clare posted about on Oct. 31st. My partner Betsy e-mailed me today that she recieved it. This picture was taken by her. I am glad she liked it. Now I will wait for her's to arrive at my door.

Engagement

I just wanted to announce the engagement of my son Eric to Terri. She is from Australia and will be moving up here as soon as all the legal paper work is finished. He had gone down there to see her on his vacation and that is where this picture was taken.

Oct. & Nov. BOM

These are my Oct. and Nov. free BOM's from Ellie. I got Oct. stitched in Oct. but never got it put into a Mini Wall Hanging. I just love her simple designs. Only one more to go. I will miss doing these every month. I can not wait to see what free BOM's will be out there for next year. I followed and stitched 3 this year.

New Tote

This is a tote I just finished for a friend to give to her friend for Christmas. She had ask me to make it right after I made mine back in the late winter. I sure hope she likes it. I used an interfacing in this one to give it a little more body. Mine is fairly limp but does a good job for me. The design in the stitching is mine, but my daughter Terry helped me arrange the items. I had fun picking out the buttons because I love buttons very much and use them on everything I can. You can click on the picture for a closer look.

This is a closer view of the stitching.

Re-Blooming Iris and Knit Scarf

This is the re-blooming Iris I showed the other day. The first bloom died and these were tight buds. I did not know if they would open in the house but just look at them. There is still 1 more to open but these 3 are beautiful. It has been cold and windy here today and just looking at them made me feel better.

This is a scarf I have been knitting on for awhile. I am not sure what I will do with it yet but it never hurts to have an extra gift handy. You never know when you might need one on short notice. I love the color blue of this yarn and it is very soft too.

Crocheting and SNOW

These are a couple of doll blankets I made for a friend. I used baby yarn I had left over from other projects.

This is what greeted us this morning about 9:00 AM. This is just the start of a winter I am not looking forward too. If you click on the picture you can see it better. This is looking at the neighbors house. Yes it is SNOW not rain.

Re-Blooming Iris and Sunrise

This is a re-blooming Iris. Last year it tried to re-bloom but never opened. I just cut it and brought it in because tonight it is suppose to freeze. I want it to last as long as possible. See the brown oak leaves in the back ground?

This is the same Iris.
Another view.

This was the sunrise on Oct. 30th. I do not have a clear view to the east but it was really beautiful. So I had to take some pictures.
