White Borders On

I got the white borders on today.  I will be putting on one more set of borders from the left overs from the jelly roll I used for my squares.  Hopefully tomorrow.

Sewing and Storm

This is the sewing I did today.  Putting the rows and strips together.  I plan on putting white all around and then use some of the rest of the jelly roll for borders.  Hopefully tomorrow.

We had a very bad storm today that only lasted a short time but it dropped an inch of rain in about 20 min.  We also had very bad winds and some hail.  This spot never really puddles but it sure did today.  I thought the wind and rain was going to blow in my front windows it was hitting it so hard.

This spot always puddles but not so fast as it did today. This is out my back door. It is calm out right now.

After Dark

Here is the mushroom tea light cover after dark.  Click for a better view.

Playing with Glass

A while back Terry gave me a beautiful frosted mushroom she made from a small sundae glass and a bowl.  You put a battery operated tea light under it.  I also saw where you could mix Mod Podge and acrylic paint to make them. (I painted this a few days ago.)  Well I did that and the brush strokes look kind of bad so I decided to frost over it with spray glass frosting.  Here are the results.  Tell me what you think.  Some times what you plan does not work out but something else happens that you like better.  Click the picture for a closer look.

This is the top view.

Closer side view.  It looks crooked but I have not fastened them together yet.  I will make sure they are straight when I attach them together. It was too light out so I did not put the tea light under it.

New Purse Design

This purse has had several different things attached to the front of it.  The fabric is sort of silky canvas so after a while you can pull off the glued on design with out a problem.  This is a hand sewn octagon flower with a button in the center on a purchased doily.

This is a closer view.

Hexie Flower Quilt Top

Here is the picture of the quilt kit Terry bought.

This is what we did with it.  She wanted the flowers all to have the same centers and wanted white around them.  I think it came out great.  Now it is her turn to finish it however she decides to do it.  Watch her blog to see what happens with it.  This is like the old fashion Grandmother's Flower Garden.  It was done with the English paper piecing method and is all hand sewn.  I do not want to know how many stitches are in it.

Bushes and Flowers

These are the 3 Rose of Sharon bushes that got moved on Wed.  I love the way they make the side of the new barn look like it has been there awhile and breaks up the long gray side.

Row 6 of the Hexie Flower quilt top for Terry.  One more row to go with 3 flowers and 31 white hexies.  The white ones will fill in like the white ones at the top.   I can't wait to see it finished.  Maybe by the end of the weekend.  Then she is going to finish it however she decides to do it.

More Hexie Flowers

I just finished row 5 of the Hexie Flower Quilt top for Terry.  Only 2 more rows to go but a lot more white hexies to make first.

Clouds and Flowers

Coming home from Terry's yesterday there were thunder storms around.  Here are 2 pictures of the clouds.

Today these are the storm clouds in the area.  We did get a good down pour of rain late this afternoon.  As you can tell I love the clouds.

Row 4 is finished.  Now more white hexies to get made for the next row of flowers.

Flowers of Many Kinds

Here is where I am with the Hexie Flower quilt top for Terry.  I am now making more flowers for the 2nd half.  She will have to tell me how to lay them out on Sunday.

Here are some other flowers in bloom.

More Hexies and New Carpet

Here are the next batch of hexies added to Terry's quilt top.  It is starting to take shape.  I need to do more white hexies before I can add the next row.  Then I can do the last 10 flowers to take to her on Father's Day so she can decide how she wants the rest of it laid out.

This is one of the small bedrooms we call the basket room because I use to make baskets in it.  The stick down tile cracked and chipped this winter from some shifting I guess.  So we decided to put an area rug over it.  This is a indoor/outdoor all recycled material rug.  It sure makes it look different.  We did not go wall to wall but just the main area where we walk.  Too much other stuff to do it any other way and it was less than $20.  That is a good buy as far as I am concerned.

Hexie Flower Quilt Top

Here is the first row of Terry's Hexie Flower Quilt.  I am loving it. Many more rows to come. Can't wait to get it finished and see how it comes out.

Flowers and Playing

Here are the things either new to blooming or more of them blooming. A close up of my Honeysuckle.

Honeysuckle bush, it is very large and smells great.

More Sun Drops.

My Red Rose.  It is a off shoot of a peach rose.  How that happened I am not sure.

My Miniature Pink Rose.  It is about as big as a quarter.  I have had it a long time.

Better picture of my White Clematis.

My first try at crocheting over a rock.  I saw some on the internet and just had to try it.  No pattern, I just made up the design as I went along.  I think it came out pretty good for a first try.

What I Am Working On

This will be an on going project for Terry.  She got the kit and does not do Hexies.  I love to do them but this will be a long time in the finishing because there will be 20 flowers and about 176 white hexies to go around them and hook them together.  These are the first 10 flowers.  I need for her to see them and give me the lay-out and then I can start the white ones.  I plan on doing 1/2 at a time and then hooking the halves together.  But I am loving it.

First June Finish and Flowers

Here is my first June finishes.  I made these for a friend.  She does not sew.  It is a purse and a tote bag.  She bought the fabric which was pre-quilted.

My White Poppy

First of my Sundrops to open.

I can't remember what these are called.  But I got them from my Mom.

More of my Orange Poppies.

Ground cover around the mail box.
