Happy Anniversary

I want to wish my daughter Terry and her husband John a Happy 17th Anniversary tomorrow Aug. 1st. This is what I made for her and I gave it to her yesterday when she and her kids came up to visit. My Granddaughter and her new baby were here too. So she got to hold her new Great Niece. It was a very busy afternoon but a nice one too. Again I say Happy Anniversary.

Strange Bug and Flowers

I walked from my living room toward my kitchen and noticed this bug on the handle of my basket sitting on the desk by my phone. I had to grab the camera before hubby moved him to the porch and then outside. We did not know if it would take off flying but the flash on my camera did not upset it at all. It was almost 2 inches long and if you lookdown and to the right you can see his antenna and the other one goes back to the left along the handle. They had to be over 4 inches long. I am not good with bugs but it looked interesting and it had red eyes. If you know what this bug is let me know. Click on the picture for a better look at the antenna.

It's head looks like a grasshopper, but I have never seen one that big or with the green wings and long antenna. This shot is on my screened in porch. Very strange if you ask me.
These are my Lillies next to the screened in porch. They are beautiful this year. We have to tie them up because they grow so tall and are top heavy.

Another Use For Tatting

I have been trying to think of other things I can use tatting on and I saw a candle with tatting around it. This is a small glass candle I have had for a long time in my cupboard. I just used drops of craft glue to stick it to the glass. It will either be a craft show item or a gift some time. It worked up very quickly. I love the variegated crochet cotton.

Giveaway Winner!

Well my giveaway is over and my hubby picked the winner. I only had 12 bloggers sign up so your chances were pretty good. The picture below is what the winner is getting.

Here is my hubby drawing the winning name. I just put them on paper since there were so few.

And the winner is Jon. She is the person who encouraged me to pick up my tatting again. She is from Subang Jaya, Malaysia. I am so glad she responded to my saying that tatting was a lost art. Congrats Jon.

Friends Doily

This is a beautiful doily that was made by a friend of mine whose name is Grace. She wanted to make doilies so I gave her some patterns and size 30 crochet thread. I posted her first one awhile back. This is her second one and she is going to have it framed on a black background. She said if she sat anything on it you would not see the beautiful pattern. I think she does a wonderful job.

2 Tatted Finishes

This is a frame I have added tatting to and some beads for a Christmas gift. She can put what ever picture she wants in it. I just glued the tatting to the frame. I took the picture at a little tilt so the glass did not glare.

This is another pair of earrings I finished this afternoon. I love playing around with my tatting.

Do not forget to leave a comment for my giveaway in the last post. Do not leave it in this post or you will not be entered.

Giveaway

Here is a neat giveaway at Tatting Chic. Lots of nice things if you would like to try tatting or just get stuff to help you along.

More Tatted Earrings

I finished 2 pair of tatted earrings this afternoon. I started the teal ones last night and finished them today and then made the black ones. I hate to work with black in any project I do. It is so hard to see with my older eyes. But people love black so I thought I would see if I might have any friends who would be interested in them.

Tatting and Update

Here are 5 more finishes in my tatting work. I am so enjoying doing it again. The top row are larger versions of the bottom row. The blue and white ones have beads on the picots (loops) which I just learned to do when I did my earrings. I know now that the white thread I used is not very good for tatting because it is not smooth enough to make the stitches lay neatly.

I think they are having a craft sow at our Recreation Center this fall and I will be selling some of these I think.

Update on my son's motorcycle accident, is that he will be in a large plastic boot up to his knee for 3 weeks and then they will know if it is healing okay. He was a very lucky guy because it could have been a lot worse. Thanks for all the prayers that went out for him.

No Pictures Today

Since my son was hurt on Wed. on his Harley,(You can read about it in my Wed. post.) we have been helping him with things that needed done at his house. His foot is swollen and black and blue. He says it does not hurt but he is sore all over from being thrown off the Harley into the ditch. He has a chip on the main leg bone just above the ankle.

Hopefully I can get back in the tatting mode tomorrow. I am having fun trying different threads and simple patterns.

Neat Giveaway

Give away at http://justanotherhangup.blogspot.com/. It is a neat giveaway.

Stitching and Tatted Earrings

This is my Gail Pan BOM for July. I love this BOM. I still need to put the sashing on it.

This is one of my first attempts at tatting earrings and using beads as well. I have made 4 pair with different types of thread to see how they work out. I am okay with the results. The first pair was thread I had on a shuttle and I am not sure of the weight. It was the second pair I made.

This pair is #30 weight and was the last pair I made.

This was my first try and I learned from a mistake I made. It is the same thread as the first picture.

This pair is made from tatting thread that my mom gave me many years ago. She crocheted hanky edges with it. I have many colors to chose from if I want to use it.

My Son's Accident

My son was in a motorcycle accident today. He was stopped at the end of his road, he looked left and before he could look right a older lady in a car came around the corner on his side of the road and hit him. The bumper hit his shin and throw him off the bike and into the ditch. He was lucky that all he got was a chip on the main leg bone. It could have been a lot worse.

I am very thankful that he is going to be okay. He is in pain now and has to see the specialist to get a walking boot so he can put weight on that leg. For now he is on crutches.

His bike got damaged but what it messed up were things that can be easily replaced. The new paint job he did this spring seems to be okay.

Stitching-Bunny-Tatting Gift

This is block #7 of the Verandah Views by Willowberry Designs. Now I just have to get all the blocks put into a quilt.

This is the July Block from Ellie's calander BOM. Now I need to get it into my mini wall hanging.

This is a baby bunny eating grass in my side yard this morning. They are so cute but they like to eat my flowers too.

This is a towel with tatted medallions sewn on. It will be a gift one of these days.

Gift Recieved

I recieved this gift from a blogging friend in Australia. I love the card she sent me. I do not do scrapbooking so I love cards made like this.

In my package was also this lovely set of coasters. I love the birds on them. They are so colorful.

This is the fabric bundle she enclosed and the beautiful piece of trim.

After my mom passed away in March she ask me for some pictures because she wanted to make me some scrapbook pages. Here are just 2 of the pages she did for me. They are all beautiful. I will always cherish them. The V is for my real name. This is my mom and I when I was only a few months old. I have this picture on my headboard shelf above my bed.

This is my mom and I many years ago at her home. I remember having it taken very well.

Tatting Projects

These are 2 tatted wreaths I did this morning. I think they came out very nice but are a lot smaller than I thought they would be. I used a #10 crochet cotton for the wreath.

This border of tatting is also #10 crochet cotton. I was just trying to see if I could do a edging and make it even. I think it came out okay but I need more practice. I like it on this hand towel. It was not an easy task to sew it on so none of my stitches showed on the wrong side.

Flowers Again

I was outside taking pictures of my flowers again. This is what I found.

This is what the Hairy Allium is doing now. I did not know it did anything but get hairy. It has purple flowers that I think are not all the way open yet. I will keep you posted as to what it does next.
